Description
From the highest quality Connemara
Marble this piece was hand carved and polished by skilled craftspeople. This
marble was mined from quarries under the shadow of the 12 Bens Mountains in
Connemara in the West of Ireland. Connemara marble was formed about 700 million
years ago from limestone that was transformed under tremendous pressure and
extreme pressure. This metamorphic transformation causes a complete
re-crystallization of the Limestone into interlocking mosaic of calcite. Thus
making every piece of Connemara marble unique, no two pieces are the same.
Because this Green colored marble is found no where else in the world it is
instantly recognizable as a unique Irish marble.
